Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
In short: your drives stay on your iPhone. Fairmile has no account, no ads and no analytics, and we never sell data. The only data that leaves your device goes to Apple, to show maps and addresses and to process purchases, and to RevenueCat, which checks whether you have Pro.
This policy explains what the Fairmile app for iPhone (“Fairmile”, “the app”) does with your information. Fairmile is made by Ori Studios (“we”, “us”). If you have a question, write to support@fairmile.app.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything Fairmile records is stored only on your device, in the app's own storage:
- Drives: the route (location points), start and end place, distance, date and time of each drive.
- What you add: whether a drive is business or personal, its purpose, notes, classification rules, and the vehicle and report details you enter for your reports.
- Settings: your tax country, distance unit and app preferences.
We do not run servers that receive or store your drives, and we cannot see them. Your drives are included in your iPhone's backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you have backups turned on; those backups are handled by Apple under your Apple ID.
Fairmile's widgets, Control Center button, Siri shortcuts and CarPlay screen read the same data on your device.
Location and motion
Fairmile asks for location access to measure your drives. With “Always” access it can record a drive when it starts from a Shortcuts automation (for example when your iPhone connects to CarPlay or your car's Bluetooth), even if the app is closed. Location is recorded only while a drive is in progress.
Fairmile asks for Motion & Fitness access so it can tell when you are in a car and turn GPS off when you are not. Motion data is processed on your device and is not stored or shared.
You can change either permission at any time in the iPhone Settings app.
What leaves your iPhone, and why
Apple Maps (addresses and map images)
To show a drive's start and end address and its map, Fairmile uses Apple's MapKit. MapKit sends the coordinates of those places, or the area of the map, to Apple to look up the address and draw the map. Apple handles this under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)
Payments for Fairmile Pro are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, email address or payment details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether you have an active Pro subscription or purchase. When the app starts or you buy or restore, RevenueCat receives:
- a random identifier created by the app (not your name, email or Apple ID),
- your App Store purchase and subscription details (product, dates, price and currency, store country),
- basic device and app information (device model, iOS version, app version, language) and your IP address.
RevenueCat uses this only to confirm your purchases and provide subscription statistics to us. It does not receive your drives or location. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Reports you send
When you export a report or email it to your accountant, the file is created on your device and sent through the app you choose (for example Mail). It goes only to the recipients you pick; we do not receive a copy.
Notifications, ratings and offer codes
Drive notifications are created on your device. Rating prompts and offer code redemption are shown by Apple's own App Store screens.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your drives stay on your iPhone until you delete them. You can delete any drive in the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device (but not from backups you made earlier).
RevenueCat keeps purchase records while they are needed to provide Pro and to meet legal and accounting duties. To have the RevenueCat records linked to your purchases deleted, email us; because we never know who you are, we will ask for details that let us find them, such as the product and date of your purchase.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, Canada's PIPEDA, the Australian Privacy Act or New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, and to object to how it is used. Because your drives are only on your device, you already control them. For anything else, email support@fairmile.app and we will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performing our contract with you (providing the app and Pro) as the legal basis for the purchase checks described above.
Children
Fairmile is meant for adults who drive for work. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Fairmile handles data, for example by adding iCloud sync, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change ships.
